Woodlands cricketer Elliot Richardson is the Top Gun in the county after winning a competition to find Yorkshire’s quickest bowler.
Richardson won regional heats, followed by his semi-final, and appeared in front a sell out Headingley crowd during last Friday’s England v Australia One Day International.
Richardson was runner-up in last year’s inaugural Top Gun event when he was edged out by Mark Fisher from Sheriff Hutton Bridge CC, who recorded a top speed of 77mph.
Richardson was up against David Amos (Pool), Andrew Brewster (Acomb) and James Garding (Stokesley) but he blew the opposition away recording a terrific top speed delivery of 81mph.
Amos (78mph), Brewster (79mph) and Harding (79mph) recorded impressive speeds but Richardson’s first delivery saw him clock 80mph.
Richardson twice clocked a BLK Top Gun record for an outdoor delivery with 81mph.
England bowling coach Otis Gibson was on hand to present a delighted Richardson with his trophy.
Richardson will now get the chance to train with Yorkshire CCC, while he becomes a BLK sponsored athlete for 2016.
As part of Richardson’s prize, Woodlands will receive BLK training kit and whites for CCC next season.
