Shaw Cross Sharks handed home draw in Challenge Cup

Shaw Cross Sharks have been paired at home to Thatto Heath Crusaders in the first round of this season’s RL Challenge Cup.

The Heavy Woollen’s other amateur representatives in the competition are Dewsbury Celtic and they will travel to The RAF, with both ties due to take oplace over the weekend of February 1 and 2.

The draw for the BARLA National Cup first round was made at Dewsbury Moor last Saturday when Batley Boys and Thornhill Trojans were handed home ties.

The Boys entertain fellow Pennine League Championship One side Morley Borough in the first round on the weekend of January 18 and 19, while Premier Division high fliers Thornhill face a keen game at home to Widnes St Maries.

Dewsbury Moor will travel to last week’s opponents Methley Royals.

In the Under-18s National Cup, Thornhill host Stanningley, Shaw Cross entertain Rylands, while Moor travel to Lock Lane.

Dewsbury Moor, Batley Boys and Shaw Cross have received byes in the first round of the U14s cup, while Moor have a bye in the U16s competition.
