Shaw Cross Sharks A produced a fine display away to Hunslet Warriors to run out 50-10 winners and finish top of Yorkshire Men’s League Division Two.
The Sharks started in excellent form, knowing they had to secure a big victory, with the league leadership to be decided on points difference.
Great displays from veteran forwards Johnny Numa, Wayne Hirst and Christopher Renton laid the platform for the Sharks and they started the scoring early with Jamie Searby touching down between the posts .
Shaw Cross continued the scoring with great solo efforts from Aiden Kay and Alex Whittaker both touching down out wide.
Stephen Talbot then beat three defenders to put full- back Daniel Howard over between the posts and Howard added a second try soon after with a great piece of footwork.
At the back end of the half, Hunslet got on the scoresheet and from the restart the Sharks regained possession.
This led to Searby scoring his second try. Whittaker kicked four conversions as the Sharks raced into a 32-6 half-time lead.
The Sharks continued to outclass the ever tiring Hunslet side in the second half.
Stephen Morton and Mitchell Firth both scored great tries following good build-up play.
Hunslet then replied with a breakaway try but James Collins’ men were not finished as Thomas Stuckey crossed for the final try in the corner. Whittaker converted all three scores as the Sharks reached the half-century.
