Sharks prove too strong in victory over Rose

Darrell Olpherts, Casey Johnson and Thomas Rogers scored two tries each, while Ben Spaven took his try tally for the season to seven.

Johnson (four) and Ross Roebuck (three) added the Sharks conversions as they moved up to sixth place with four wins and four losses from their eight matches.

Rose Bridge’s consolation tries came from Connor Matthews and Joseph Higham, both improved by Matthews.

The Sharks are not in league action this Saturday but return on May 10 with a mouthwatering Yorkshire derby when unbeaten Division One leaders Oulton Raiders, with eight wins from eight, visit Leeds Road.

Dewsbury Celtic suffered a sixth straight defeat, going down 38-22 at York Acorn.

Celtic won their first two matches, including an opening day success over Shaw Cross, but that form has deserted them.

Scrum-half Michael Foulstone picked up a try and three goals, with Celtic’s other tries coming from Nathan Lawrence, Scott Green and Danny Crabtree.

Acorn centre Ryan Gallagher claimed a hat-trick and Anthony Chilton kicked four goals.

Joe Budd, Gareth Singleton, Nicholas Speck and Joseph Porter also scored in Acorn’s third win of the season.

Celtic also return to action on May 10 with a trip to Ince Rose Bridge, who are just one place below them in the league standings.
