Sharks lose unbeaten tag

The Sharks were hugely disappointed to lose their unbeaten record to a very strong and physical East Leeds outfit.

This game was an epic defensive battle with East Leeds just edging the victory scoring two tries to the Sharks’ one.

Both sides started well with some hard-hitting rugby league, it was not until the 31st minute that the deadlock was broken with an East Leeds try.

Things were much the same in the second half until the 55th minute when East Leeds were awarded a controversial try which the referee firstly shouted no try but then changed his mind.

The Sharks rallied with second row forward and man-of-the-match Steve Talbot running strong.

Ryan Glynn again looked dangerous and the Sharks just appeared to be getting on top when hooker Steve Shaw went over in the 69th minute for a try.

Shaw Cross pressed on but the East Leeds defence held firm for the victory.

After the game Sharks coach Brett Turner said: “One or two decisions went against us but we were up against a physical side. We shall dust ourselves down ready for the local derby this week.”

The Sharks travel to Dewsbury Celtic on Saturday for what should be a keenly contested game as the sides have not met each other in league competition for some years.

The match is sure to attract a big following of each clubs’ supporters and many neutrals to Crow Nest Park.

Celtic have only played three games this season and won one of them. They were not in action last weekend.
