Scotland set to win Premier title
The draw leaves Scotland six points clear of Town going into their final game of the season at home to Littletown next Tuesday and although Heckmondwike have two games left, they must make up a goal difference of 30 if they are to snatch the title away.
Heckmondwike host Navigation on Tuesday before ending their campaign with a trip to Littletown on May 22.
The Scotland had taken huge strides towards winning their first Premier Division title after a 5-1 success at Birkenshaw last Sunday.
Joel Clegg and Matt Durkin both hit doubles for the leaders, with Gibril Bojang also on target. Adam Harvey netted Birkenshaw’s consolation.
Heckmondwike’s challenge had suffered a setback last Sunday when they could only draw 3-3 at home to St John Fisher.
Matthew Biddle, Rob Hiscox and Jamie Wasley struck for Town, with Fisher earning a point through Robert Bordman (brace) and Dave Bordman.
Fisher are fifth with two games left after beating Littletown 2-0 on Tuesday.
Navigation’s title challenge ended last Sunday after they lost 7-2 at home to Littletown.
Andy Godding, Aiden Schofield and Jordan Maltas each scored twice for Littletown, but their goal of the game came from a 35-yard effort by Liam Fox.
Tom Jackson and Lewis Collinson netted for Navigation, who bounced back with a 2-1 win at Birstall St Patricks on Tuesday.
That win left Navigation third in the table, while confirming St Pats’ relegation.
Towngate are fourth after two wins. Danny Facey, Robert Piercy and John Flynn each scored twice in a 9-4 win over Crown Leeds Road last Sunday. Craig Cartwright, Ashley Flynn and Levi Maturine also struck, with Crown’s replies coming from Carl Austin (two), Wayne Newsome and Dominic Karimi.
Towngate then beat Birkenshaw 3-1 on Tuesday.
St Pats earned a 4-4 draw with Wodman Batley Carr last Sunday. Sam Tyrell (brace), Matthew Glynn and Darren McDonald struck for St Pats, with Andrew Pickles (hat-trick) and Tony Rayne replying.
