Sawyer reveals ‘astronomical’ sponsorship deal

DEWSBURY chairman Mark Sawyer revealed that a two-year extension with current sponsors Eric France Scrap Metal could be the best outside Super League.

The previous sponsorship package ran out after last Sunday’s game with Sheffield but the Eric France company have been so impressed with the Rams that they have agreed to pump even more money into the club.

Mr Sawyer said: “It is fabulous news that Eric France have renewed their deal for another two years. It is an undisclosed sum but what I can say is that it is an astronomical amount for a club at our level and we are very fortunate to have the Eric France brand on our shirts.

“This is the best sponsorship for any club outside Super League.

“We were the envy of every club when we announced that we had secured an extended sponsorship deal in what continues to be extremely difficult times financially.”

The sponsors set a target for Dewsbury supporters to snap up 500 season tickets last season and when the figure was reached, Eric France boosted the Rams coffers by a further £15,000.

Mr Sawyer revealed this played a huge part in negotiations for the deal being extended and improved.

The chairman added: “After our supporters reached 500 season tickets its was something Eric France appreciated.

“They know the supporters care about this club and they are happy to sponsor us again as they feel they have had value for money.

“We have lost some sponsors, not because they don’t want to support us but they simply no longer have the funds, so it if great news to have this deal completed.”

“I know fans are finding it difficult too in the current climate but I would urge them to dig deep and find the money again for a season ticket.”
