Savile denied as Jardy Boys reach cup final

JARDY Boys will face BD3 United in the Spen Valley League’s Sonder Heating Cup final on Tuesday May 1 at Liversedge FC, kick-off 7pm.

The delayed second semi-final took place on Monday with Division One Savile United producing a battling effort before losing 3-2 to the Premier Division title contenders.

BD3 won 4-3 after extra-time the previous Monday against Premier rivals Fairbank United.

In the Spen Valley League Premier Division last Saturday, leaders Bradford came back from 2-1 down at the interval to beat West Bradford Spartans (Bobby Canning and Sam Prest) 4-2.

Shaun Addy bagged a brace for Bradford while John Singh and Azir Gulzar also struck.

Title rivals Jardy Boys stayed six points behind as Joe Lyttle, Jordan Ledgard and Oliver Mitchell scored in a 3-2 success at Fairbank United (Faisal Shabbir and Naveed Hussain).

Ashiq Iqbal and an own goal saw TVR United win 2-1 at BD3 United (Toseef Ashad), while an injury to the referee delayed the start at Ravensthorpe Rangers who eventually beat Girlington 1-0 thanks to a spectacular header from Altaf Ugrader.

On Monday Ravensthorpe Rangers drew 2-2 at home to West Bradford Spartans.

n Marsh recorded an excellent 6-1 home win over Norfolk last Saturday to reach the semi-finals of the Spen Valley League’s Wilf Ward Memorial Trophy.

Mark Wigley and Josh Wood both scored twice while Andrew Milner and Loz Balmforth were also on target for the hosts.

Marsh will be in the first semi-final on Monday (6.15pm) at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre against Bradford All Stars after they finally beat ALC 9-8 on penalties.

The sides had been tied 2-2 after 90 minutes and 3-3 after extra-time, with Misbah Chowdury, Amriaz Najib and Khuram Khan scoring for the All Stars.

Wednesday’s second semi-final at Thornhill Cricket Club (6.15pm) sees Division One leaders Vision tackling BD3 United Reserves after their 3-2 home triumph against Oakwell.

Ashley Barnes struck twice as Oakwell led 2-0 at the break but the hosts stormed back to win with strikes by Shummell Uddin, Syeed Hussain and Sheraz Mohmood.

n Vision were in Spen Valley League action on Saturday and moved six points clear at the top of Division One after a 5-3 home success over Howden Clough.

Chris Lever (two), Anthony Bannon (two) and Liam Hartley scored for Vision who led 4-2 at the break. Phil Clarke (two) and Ashley Peel replied for Clough.
