Supporter incentives can provide Rams boost

Dewsbury Rams have introduced a number of incentives to entice supporters to back the team in their bid bring success to the town.

The Rams came within 80 minutes of reaching last season’s Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final, losing out to eventual winners Leigh Centurions.

With a new era of rugby league on the horizon in 2015, and the launch of an exciting new Championship format, the Rams are hoping fans will get behind them.

Chairman Mark Sawyer has reported brisk sales of season tickets, with more than a third sold going to new customers.

The Rams have introduced a plan to pay by instalment and there is a week to go until the October 31 deadline to take up that offer.

Mr Sawyer said: “We’re in front of where we were at this stage last year and season tickets are continuing to sell at a fast pace.

“More than a third of season tickets sold so far have gone to new customers, which is really pleasing.

“The squad is very strong, we’re keeping hold of our best players, while adding new ones, and we’re continuing to improve the ground.

“It’s great to see that local people are recognising our progress, and coming on board and buying season tickets.”

Dewsbury have also teamed up with Workington Town to provide free coaches for visiting supporters when the sides meet.

Mr Sawyer added: “Many supporters took advantage of the club’s free away coach travel offers for the play-off matches against Halifax and Leigh and we have already struck a deal with Workington Town to offer a similar service next season.

“Workington will be laying on two free coaches for Rams supporters when we visit Derwent Park and will also provide food, and the Rams will be returning the favour for the fixture at Tetley’s Stadium.

“We’re hoping to strike further deals with other clubs in the Championship, particularly where there’s a long journey involved.”

Rams season ticket holders will also be given a 50 per cent discount on the price of their ticket for next year’s Summer Bash in Blackpool, with supporters group Amber Ribbon already planning a trip.

Adult season tickets start at £140 and concessions from £95 with free tickets for all Under-16s.
