Spicer ready for return as Rams tackle in-form Dons

Spicer suffered a rib injury in Dewsbury’s defeat to Leigh on May 11 and has missed the last five Rams matches.

Coach Glenn Morrison is delighted the experienced Spicer came through full contact training unscathed and the back rower is set to be included in Sunday’s squad.

Morrison said: “We have had four or five of our first pick players missing and when you are playing the top teams, this leaves you behind the eight-ball a bit.

“It will be good to have Rob back and its crucial we have our best players back for the back end of the year.

“Spicer helps provide competition for places and keeps others on their toes.”

Doncaster have won three and drawn one of their last four matches and lie third in the Championship after last week’s 22-22 draw at Featherstone.

Morrison added: “Doncaster are playing well, they have a good squad, who play for each other but it’s important that we get something out of the game.”

Morrison has also been linked with the coaching position at Bradford Bulls, following the shock sacking of Dewsbury-born Francis Cummins this week.

Morrison was flattered to be linked with the post, saying: “I love Bradford and I want to see them back where they belong but I also love it here at Dewsbury and there has been no approach from the Bulls.

“The club have said they wouldn’t stand in my way if a Super League club approached but there is a job to do here at the Rams and I want to make sure we continue moving up and carrying on the work we have started.”
