The duo will also miss any potential play-off games, if the Rams manage to secure a top-eight finish.

Dewsbury’s crucial bonus point in a 30-18 defeat to Sheffield Eagles saw the injury-hit Rams move up to seventh in the Championship, level on 36 points with Workington and Whitehaven.

The Rams played their final home game of the season against another of their play-off rivals Doncaster last night (Thursday) and victory will have set up a final day showdown at the Leigh Sporting Village on Sunday week.

Coach Glenn Morrison said: “Walshaw has been out for the last couple of weeks and we have found out he has a crack in his foot, so is out for the rest of the year.

“Spicer will have a scan on his knee but he is also out for the year.

“With the season we have had, with so many long term injuries, I am proud that we are still in with a shout for the play-offs.

“Going into the (Sheffield) game, we had four players who shouldn’t have played due to injury but they put themselves forward and played busted.

“We had two centres in the back row against the top side in the competition and we were outstanding, I was really proud of them.”

Doncaster went into last night’s clash at Dewsbury with a two-point lead over the Rams after they scored a dramatic late try to snatch a 29-26 win over Swinton last Sunday.

The Dons also have a better points difference and a game in hand on the Rams.

They host relegation threatened York City Knights next Wednesday (August 28) before ending their regular season at home to Sheffield on September 1.
