All eyes will be on Tetley’s Stadium tonight as a new era of Championship begins with a cracking contest between two competitive sides (kick off 8pm).

Glenn Morrison has never got the better of Mark Aston’s Eagles during his tenure as Rams coach but aims to put that right and secure victory for the first time in nine meetings between the sides.

Morrison said: “They have done a number on us over the last couple of years but it is a new season, we have new players and we are hoping Friday the 13th can be our lucky omen.”

Morrison has called for Rams fans to rally round and roar on his side, with discounted admission prices for supporters who arrive before 6.45pm and drinks vouchers for season ticket holders.

Morrison added: “As a playing, I used to love playing night games and I know our players are really excited.

“It creates a different atmosphere and we want to pack the crowd in and hope they are really vocal.

“We have a full squad to pick from, apart from the three long term injuries, and although there are some players disappointed at not being in the 19-man squad, it is a long season.

“I know Mark Aston is not keen on pre-season games but we know how they will play and have a good idea who they’re 17 will be.

“It is one of those games where whoever turns up and wants it more will get the job done and hopefully that will be us.”

Hooker Wayne Godwin required stitches in a head wound and also dislocated a finger during the pre-season win over London Broncos but he is fit to play.
