Rams to tackle top Bulls outfit

GLENN Morrison’s Dewsbury Rams are set to meet a top class Bradford Bulls side in their third and final pre-season game on Sunday (kick off 3pm).

Bulls coach Francis Cummins has vowed to bring a near full-strength squad to his home town, which should help attract a large crowd to Tetley’s Stadium.

The Rams go into Sunday’s clash on the back of a terrific 23-10 victory over Halifax last week but Morrison wants his side to build on that in what will be their final chance to impress before the Championship campaign begins away to Doncaster on February 3.

Morrison said: “I’ve spoken to Franny (Cummins) who has said he will bring everyone who is available and while it will be a step up for us, it’s important we concentrate to get what we want out of the game.

“It’s good for the fans that they are able to see some of the top Super League players but it’s good for our younger players to come up against them.”

The fixture holds memories for Morrison, who made his English debut for the Bulls at Tetley’s Stadium.

The Australian coach recalled: “I’ve not forgotten my first game, we were knee deep in mud and sand and it was cold and wet.”

Morrison was full of praise for his forwards display in the win over Halifax but he will add Dario Esporito to Sunday’s squad as he has missed the opening two friendlies.

Morrison added: “The Bulls are a top side and as there is no 20s competition this time, you are seeing most of the Super League sides sending virtually their full strength squads to the friendlies, which is good for the game and the fans.

“I will give everyone another go and this will be their last chance for the boys to do well and stand-up for Doncaster.

“Dario will definitely get a run out and it will be his only chance to impress and get into the 17 for the first game
