Rams record biggest win of campaign

The Rams fell behind to an early Charlie Martin try after Brett Seymour’s kick off sailed out on the full but went on to run in 40 unanswered points as they consolidated fifth place in the table.

Luke Adamson continued his excellent form when he barged over for a try, which Seymour converted.

Dewsbury’s defence was excellent following the early blip as they kept the Hawks at bay for the remainder of the match.

Having repelled a spell of Hunslet pressure, Dale Morton scooped up a loose ball to race over for an unconverted try which put the Rams 10-4 ahead.

The Rams had been beaten 18-6 at South Leeds Stadium in March but gained a 31-16 Challenge Cup victory and it appeared the sides were in for another closely fought contest with a period of stalemate either side of half-time

The Rams gained a crucial try after 54 minutes when Seymour’s neat pass sent Aaron Brown through a gap and he raced away before sending Anthony Thackeray over for a try, which Seymour converted.

The Rams then cut loose as they ran in 30 points in a blistering 23 minute spell.

Morton gathered a kick and raced through the heart of the Hawks defence, dummying his way past Jimmy Watson before holding off Luke Briscoe to score a terrific individual try, which Seymour improved.

Toby Adamson, along with brother Luke, agreed a contract extension which will keep him at Tetley’s Stadium until the end of next season and he celebrated by barging over for a try two minutes later.

Seymour added his fourth goal of the afternoon and the stand-off then grabbed his first try in Rams colours, showing strength to hold off several Hunslet tacklers before stretching over to plant the ball down.

Seymour converted his own try as Dewsbury showed the attacking prowess they have been threatening.

Morton completed his hat-trick four minutes from time, forcing his way over near the posts and Seymour added his sixth goal to cap an impressive display.

Rams coach Glenn Morrison will have been happy with his side’s overall display and Dewsbury go into tonight’s mouthwatering Challenge Cup tie against Warrington Wolves brimming with confidence.
