Rams must cut out costly errors warns Morrison

The Rams appeared on course to end their Sheffield hoodoo when they led 12-10 going in to the final quarter only for the Eagles to run in three unanswered tries in the space of 12 minutes to end Dewsbury’s hopes.

Speaking after the defeat, Morrison said: “We have thrown the game away and when you look across the field you see the same thing, basic errors are killing us and gifting teams tries, giving them field position and we have gifted them the game.

“We know we are a better side than that. I don’t think we were beaten by a better side, we were beaten by ourselves.

“The effort is there and we are working hard but a 61 per cent completion rate in the second half says it all.

“All we had to do was go with them set for set and we win the game but we are making it tough for ourselves.

“We scored some good tries and have players playing good footy but basic errors are costing us and we have to look at fixing that up.”

Dewsbury have a second successive home game as they seek to make a winning return when high-flying Doncaster visit Tetley’s Stadium on Sunday (ko 3pm).

Morrison added: “We have another home game so chance to put things right against a good side who are playing well.

“To beat them and get back on the horse at home would be good.

“We have got to make the play-offs and we are too good a side not to be thinking about that but games like this (Sheffield) you have got to win and we lost it ourselves.”

Doncaster lie third in the Championship table with 10 wins and four defeats from their 15 matches.

The Dons were involved in a thrilling 22-22 draw at second placed Featherstone Rovers last week following Richard Whiting’s dramatic last minute try.

Dewsbury are sixth with 11 matches to play and go into Sunday’s clash seeking a notable double having won 20-12 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium in what was one of the Rams’ best displays of the season.
