Rams gesture to fans with season ticket price freeze

Confusion surrounds rugby league as the sport seeks a restructure of both the Championship and Super League competitions from 2015.

Dewsbury are coming off a successful season, which saw them reach the play-offs for the first time at Championship level and defeat Doncaster before bowing out to eventual Grand Final winners Sheffield Eagles.

The Rams are looking to build on that and have already announced the stellar signing of former Super League hooker Wayne Godwin, along with Tom Hemingway from Batley, Anthony Thackeray from Halifax and a host of players who will remain at the club.

Dewsbury are hoping to announce at least one more signing and are appealing for fans to again back them for what will be a vital year in the sport’s history.

An adult standing season ticket at Tetley’s Stadium last season was priced £115 with adult seating tickets at £130 and they will remain the same in 2014.

Confusion goes beyond Championship level and officials of six Super League clubs walked out of a meeting on Wednesday set up to discuss the proposed restructure of the competition.

The other eight clubs had indicated their support to reduce the number of Super League teams to 12 in 2015 but the absence of representatives from Catalan Dragons, Huddersfield, Hull FC, Hull KR, Warrington and Wigan prevented a vote taking place.

In hard economic times, Dewsbury are grateful to have received backing from Yorkshire Building Services, who will be the main club sponsors next season after a deal with a potential new sponsor fell through.
