Brett Seymour landed a 77th minute penalty goal to end the stalemate, only for Workington to regain possession following a short kick off.

From the final play of the game, Town moved play wide and winger Elliott Miller raced in at the corner as the hooter sounded.

Carl Forber held his nerve to land the touchline conversion and earn his side a share of the spoils.

The point was enough to see Dewsbury regain fourth spot from Halifax, who had moved above the Rams following victory over Featherstone Rovers on Saturday, but coach Glenn Morrison was far from happy with his side’s performance.

Dewsbury were handed an early wake up call as Workington grabbed a fifth minute try when Rhodri Lloyd latched on to Jack Murphy’s pass.

The Rams were not behind for long as they moved play wide to the left and Dalton Grant was on the end of the passing play to score. Seymour converted to edge the home side ahead.

Anthony Thackeray made a terrific break and sent the supporting Aaron Brown racing to the line for a 23rd minute try, which Seymour improved.

Workington were in need of the points to move away from the bottom two in the Championship and the Cumbrian visitors responded well.

Town forced the Rams to drop-out straight from the kick off and Jarrad Stack was on hand to force his way over from acting half-back, with Forber converting.

Three minutes later, Workington struck again to lead as Lewis Tierney, on dual registration from Wigan Warriors, broke through the Rams defence and showed excellent pace to race 60 metres for a try which edged his side ahead.

It was now the Rams turn to play catch up and on the stroke of half-time they regained the lead when Joel Farrell strolled over for a try.

Seymour’s third goal edged Dewsbury 18-14 ahead but they were unable to build on the advantage and a long period of stalemate followed.

Seymour’s late penalty sparked a dramatic conclusion as Miller snatched a dramatic last-gasp try, with Forber’s terrific goal ensuring honours ended even.
