Rams coach Morrison hits half-century as Northowram defeat Liversedge

Dewsbury Rams coach Glenn Morrison hit a half century for Northowram Fields.

Liversedge went into the game as joint leaders and appeared on course for victory as they reduced Northowram Fields to 159-9 in reply to their 242-9 as Simon Kay claimed 5-54.

Morrison and Zafar Khan shared an unbroken last wicket stand of 86 to steer Northowram to victory with just one ball to spare.

Morrison made 51 not out from 53 balls, including four fours and three sixes, while Khan smashed 50 not out from 29 balls including seven fours and two sixes as Northowram sealed victory to move up to third place.

Alan Sumner (46), Matthew Butler (37), Matthew Gibson (24) and Graeme Winn (23) had earlier made contributions with the bat for Liversedge, with James Norcliffe (3-58) pick of the Fields bowling, with support from Morrison (2-54).

Liversedge slipped to fifth place in the table, while Hopton Mills took advantage to move second thanks to an easy victory over Caribbean.

The visitors could only raise eight men and were dismissed for just 67 in 18.2 overs as Richard Myers claimed and impressive 5-16.

Hopton raced to victory in just 10.1 overs with Chris Scott unbeaten on 21.

Azaad are a point clear of Hopton at the top following a 27-run victory over Oulton, while East Ardsley moved out of the bottom two following a 60-run win over Wakefield St Michaels.

Mirfield suffered a four-wicket defeat to Division One promotion chasers Adwalton.

James Broadhead (59), Alexander Pearson (35) and Ahiruddha Kaushal (31) helped guide Mirfield to 196 all out, with Steven Laycock claiming 4-59.

Daniel Gough picked up 4-41 in reply but Adwalton were guided to victory by Ben Garner (67no) and Matthew Donohoe (44).

Crossbank Methodists continue to search for their first win as they suffered a 70-run defeat against second placed East Leeds.

Shamoon Mushtaq smashed 15 fours and four sixes in a swashbuckling innings of 122.

Joshua Mastin (3-46) was pick of the Crossbank bowlers, while James Lord (55), Christian Duncan (36) and Louis Bentley (25no) contributed with the bat but they were restricted to 175-7 as Allan Olbison claimed 3-35.

Crossbank managed to deny East Leeds the full six points, which allowed Great Preston to take over at the top with victory over Gildersome.

Jotham Barnett (55) top scored in Gildersome’s 152 all out, while Great Preston edged to a two-wicket win thanks to David Illingworth’s 39 not out.
