Rams boss wants to work with officials

The Rams were on the wrong end of a lopsided penalty count, especially in the first half, while they had three players sin-binned during the match.

Morrison praised Oldham’s efforts as they gained a first win in rugby league’s second tier since 2005 and stopped short of criticising referee Joe Cobb.

However, the coach is keen to take steps to prevent a reoccurrence of the hefty penalty count against his side at Stalybridge Celtic last Sunday.

Morrison said: “Oldham played well. I looked at their tapes and thought it would be the toughest game we’ve played so far, but we weren’t given a chance to get into the game at all.

“I can’t really comment on our performance, because we didn’t get chance to play.”

Dewsbury had Dalton Grant sin-binned for an alleged trip after 23 minutes but Mr Cobb only produced a yellow card when Oldham full-back Richard Leopri’s professional foul appeared to deny Joel Farrell a certain try in the closing stages of the first half.

Dewsbury also had Nathan Conroy and Ben Reynolds sin-binned in the space of 60 seconds late in the game, which added to the visitors’ frustrations.

Morrison added: “The penalty count was 8-2 against us after 30 minutes and the game had gone by then.

“I will be looking at the video and speaking to the people I need to speak to try and make sure we get on the right page with referees.

“We need to work out what we need to do to make sure we aren’t on that side of the penalty count again.

“We also had three players in the sin-bin, so we didn’t have a chance to play.”
