Rams aim to end record breaking Centurions run

Leigh have won all 16 matches to date and are already 10 points clear at the top of the Kingstone Press Championship ahead of Dewsbury’s visit on Sunday.

The Rams pushed Leigh close at Tetley’s Stadium in May when they deservedly led before having Matthew Haggarty controversially sent off.

Leigh went on to fightback and seal a 28-12 victory, although Dewsbury felt hard done by as other decisions also went against them.

Dewsbury are harbouring hopes of a top-four finish following last week’s impressive 24-8 victory over Doncaster and coach Glenn Morrison is looking forward to locking horns with the leaders once more.

Morrison said: “We’ll go to Leigh confident but they are a good side who are travelling well.

“We are not going there to make up the numbers and every week that they win, means they are a week closer to losing a game, so let’s hope that is this week.

“We have put ourselves in a good position and we will look to kick on at the back end of the year but we have to concentrate on the job in hand.”

Karl Pryce could be set to play his 150th professional game in a record that includes 41 appearances with the Rams.

Rob Spicer was injured in the corresponding game against Leigh but he made a welcome return against Doncaster last week and came through unscathed.

Tommy Gallagher was rested for the Doncaster game but he has fully recovered and could also be in line to return.

Morrison added: “We want to keep the players fit and the numbers up so we have a strong a side as possible going into the final games.”
