No joy for Celtic and Moor in Conference encounters

The Dragons scored the only try of the first half through Josh O’Leary as they led 6-0.

Michael Hoyle extended the lead with a try soon after the re-start but Max Vernon and Jacob Crosswell replied for the Moor as they reduced the arrears to 10-8.

Eastmoor took control in the final 10 minutes and added four unanswered converted tries to take the spoils.

Michael Firth, Hoyle, Michael Jedynak and Adie Mulcahy all crossed, with the latter kicking all fours goals as the Dragons moved level on 10 points with Moor, three behind leaders Rylands Sharks.

Dewsbury Moor will aim to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Oldham St Anne’s, who are third-bottom.

Dewsbury Celtic slipped to a sixth defeat of the season as Elland picked up a first win with a 23-12 success.

Elland raced into a 10-0 lead inside the opening 14 minutes with tries by Luke Durback and Harry Fairbank.

Tom Halloran replied for Celtic but by the time Dom Senior crossed for the visitors’ second try, which he converted, the hosts were already well in control.

Elland had added further tries from Tom Hall and Dave Webb, plus Joe Nicholson’s third conversion.

The hosts then sealed a first win with Demran Gibson’s drop goal as they moved to level on three points with Celtic, who are one behind St Anne’s having played two games more.

Celtic will be hoping Moor can do them a favour at Oldham this week, when they welcome West Bowling to Crow Nest Park (2.30pm).
