New venture highlighting grassroots ARL teams is proving a big hit

A new West Yorkshire-based no filter rugby commentary and media venture is gaining popularity with its aim of giving grassroots rugby league more exposure through coverage of local games.

Oneshot Pressplay is focusing on giving local teams, players and communities greater exposure through live commentary and video coverage.

They recently began covering games across the West Yorkshire area, with the aim of shining a light on grassroots rugby and helping clubs showcase what they do both on and off the pitch.

Oneshot films and commentates on the games, with post-match highlights, interviews, and full matches uploaded to their YouTube channel, followed by short social media clips shared throughout the week.

“The response so far has been really encouraging and clubs have been very supportive of what we’re trying to build – and we’re keen to continue building on that momentum,” said Oneshot’s Kassy Cook.

“We believe it could offer a fresh perspective on grassroots rugby and help bring more attention to the clubs and players involved.

"We don’t specifically cover one set area, but as we’re all from West Yorkshire ourselves, that’s naturally where we’ve started and where most of our coverage has been so far.

"Our focus is on giving grassroots rugby more exposure through a modern, fan-focused approach that clubs, players, and communities can engage with online.

"The aim is definitely to keep growing and expand further afield as Oneshot develops.

"We hope to branch out into other sports eventually, we just started with rugby league as it’s what we know."

Recent coverage has included games involving Mirfield Spartans, Dewsbury Moor Maroons, Thornhill Trojans, Stanley Rangers and Fryston Warriors and Oneshot is set to cover the tasty local derby between Dewsbury Moor and Dewsbury Celtic on Saturday, June 13, which is shaping up to be a huge National League match.
