Morrison urges Rams to build on derby momentum

The Rams return to Kingstone Press Championship action following their superb 43-10 derby victory over Batley on Good Friday.

However, they face an in-form Cougars side, who defeated Swinton Lions 33-20 last week to reach the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Morrison said: “Having a week off can go either way, it could be good to rest and recover from some of the niggles players are carrying at this time of year and make sure they are 100 per cent fit but after such a good win you want to keep momentum going.

“It’s important we come back with the same attitude of the last game and continue to build the momentum.

“Keighley performed well and are in game mode and will be confident, especially after their win in the cup, so we have to be 100 per cent focused.

“Apart from Browny (Aaron Brown) everyone is ok and they have all trained well, so I can’t see there being too many changes from the last game.”

Rob Spicer and Shane Grady were selected in the Championship team of the week following the Batley victory but Dewsbury had a number of other stand out players, including in-form half-backs Anthony Thackeray and Tom Hemingway.

Morrison added: “When you look at a review and you have had an off-day perhaps just one or two players have stood out, in a game like Batley you can have six, seven or eight players at their best but we need everyone to be performing like that each week.

“It’s important you go into every game with the same mind set and level of commitment we showed in our last game.”
