Morrison sends message of intent ahead of cup trip

Dewsbury travel to the Don Valley Stadium as huge underdogs for the Northern Rail Cup quarter-final but if the Rams can show the same heart they did in the last round, Morrison knows his side are capable of upsetting the formbook.

Morrison said: “This is knock-out footy and anything can happen. We will go out there and give it our best shot to be in the hat for the next round.

“There is no pressure on us, all the pressure is on Sheffield, but we have to stay in there fighting as long as we can to give ourselves chance of winning.”

Dewsbury overcame huge odds to dump cup holders and red hot favourites Halifax out in the last round and they must to the same again tonight if they are to beat the reigning champions.

Morrison added: “We have gone there twice and given ourselves a chance of winning but didn’t quite play for the full 80 minutes.

“We have now won four out of five and are going in the right direction but we know they are the form team and this will probably be our toughest game of the season.”

Dewsbury are again plagued by injuries, with half-back Aaron Brown added to the ever growing list.

Brown recovered from a knee injury which saw him withdrawn during the warm-up of the derby at Batley a fortnight ago.

Brown returned against Barrow last week but lasted just two minutes before an ankle injury forced him off.

Dewsbury overcame that setback to record a 22-12 victory, their fourth in a row at home, which leaves them sixth in the Championship and they will travel to Sheffield in confident mood.
