The Rams were forced to battle back from a 10-8 half-time deficit against Workington but ran in six second half to complete a comfortable victory.

Morrison said: “The first half was a lot like the previous week when we were going through the motions thinking that we just had to play the minutes out to win.

“I gave them a rocket at half-time and told them to stand up and start playing like we know we can.

“We scored eight tries to three against a good side like Workington and can be proud of that.”

Dewsbury had taken a first minute lead, through a Jason Crookes try, before Workington battled their way back into the game.

Morrison added: “Sometimes you score early and perhaps you don’t want that because people start thinking its going to be easy.

“Workington have some big boys and marched us downfield but when we compete set for set with teams, we can show what quality we have.

“Our half-backs stood up in the second half and both put in some pin point crossfield kicks and we got on the front foot and got the job done.

“Crookesy is back to the kind of form I saw when he was a 16-year-old with the Bulls.

“I told him to put last year behind him when it wasn’t happening for him but he has worked hard in the off season and come back and I’m really proud of him.

“Hopefully we can keep him injury free and he can keep the effort up for the rest of the season.”
