Dewsbury kick off the campaign against Featherstone Rovers in two weeks, while the Rams face their final warm-up game against Doncaster this Sunday (ko 3pm).

Having seen his sided produce some exhilarating rugby to run in seven tries on their way to beating Bradford Bulls 38-4 last week, Morrison realises it will be a difficult job picking the team to face Featherstone.

Speaking after the Bulls game, Morrison said: “People have stood up and lads who were down the pecking order have moved up, which is what you want.

“It’s going to be tough to pick that first squad of 17 for Featherstone and although you are going to have some disappointed people, having a strong squad is where you get results.

“We are a squad not just a 17 and everyone is behind the cause.”

Morrison added: “These friendlies are for trying things out and getting the performances in so that we are ready for the start of the season and I think we are on the right track.

“There are still a couple of things we can improve on but we still have a couple of weeks and we will work on that”.

“We needed an 80 minute performance (against Bradford) to put a marker down for the season and I thought they really did that.

“We said at half-time that, with the Bulls having some kids in, we could put some points on them and I thought our performance was outstanding and we played some entertaining stuff.”

Morrison was also full of praise for new signings Anthony Thackeray ad Shane Grady. Visit www.dewsburyreporter.co.uk for more reaction.
