Morrison appeals for Rams to regain focus

The Rams were left frustrated when last week’s game at Workington was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch after the team and many Dewsbury supporters had arrived at Derwent Park.

Morrison felt confident his side could have built on their momentum following an excellent opening round victory over Sheffield.

While no new date for the Workington fixture has been arranged, the Rams fear they face a midweek trip to Cumbria, with no free dates in the Championship calendar.

Morrison said: “We were looking to build momentum but with no free dates it looks like we will have to go up there midweek, which means players taking two days off work.

“It’s not ideal but we must put that behind us and concentrate on Hunslet.

“They have just come up and you have to win a lot of games to do that, so they will be confident.

“They have brought in some quality players but we have to put a game plan in place to combat that.

“We had a good pre-season and good first game and felt confident going to Workington but we now have to start again.”

Hunslet have lost their opening two fixtures but competed for long periods against Featherstone and Batley.

Sam Wood is Dewsbury’s only new injury doubt after injuring a knee at work, while new signings Luke Adamson and Paul Jackson may be given an extra week to bed in.

The Rams’ reserves are due to entertain York in a friendly next Thursday and if the duo to not feature against the Hawks, they will play some part in that match, with a view to being called into the first team for the visit of Whitehaven the following Sunday.
