Moor U17s impress in league as U15s make progress in Challenge Cup

DEWSBURY Moor RL Under-17s earned a 48-16 win against Brighouse in the Yorkshire League Division One.

James Roebuck, Lewis Holiday, Patrick Farrelly and Tom Holdgate scored first-half tries, Brad Delaney converted two.

Brighouse scored two tries and a conversion either side of half-time to trail 20-16.

Jon-Joe Fox and Brad Delaney sent Joe Lowther over before a try for Holiday — both were converted by Delaney. Roebuck scored a long range try before Bob Canavan set up Holiday for his hat-trick. Lewis Reddick combined with Kyle Fozzard and Canavan set up winger Tom Holdgate.

Alex Jeffs, Ben Popplewell, Tom Conroy and Connor Squires worked hard before Delaney scored a final converted try.

Moor rallied from 14-4 down to beat Garforth 19-14 in the Under-15s Challenge Cup.

Garforth struck before Joe Westbury equalised for Moor. The visitors went ahead with a try either side of half-time.

They fought back as Ben Martin set up Jordan Clough and Connor Ineson for tries.Joel Catling’s conversion levelled the scores.

With four minutes left Catling angled a drop goal to lead 15-14 and Matt Hoyle’s try sealed the win.

Elliot Jewitt, Dean Carr, Jordan Carter and Kieran Hepworth impressed.

The Under-14s also triumphed in their Challenge Cup tie, 30-26 at Newsome.

Moor, who beat their hosts a week previously, led 10-4 at the break.

Tries were scored by Owen Fox, Jacob Crosswell, Connor Harrison, Joe Longstaffe, Aiden Ineson and Harry Woolard.

Ineson kicked three goals while coach’s MoM was Connor Gavaghan.

The Under-16s went to Siddal with just 12 players and put up a fine effort before losing 50-0.

Jamie Samme and George Croisdale were both held short, while Croisdale also had a try disallowed and Jordan Foster went close after intercepting a Siddal pass.

Brad Foster, Kyle Goodhind, Tobias Richardson and Joe Sheard impressed and like the rest of the team, refused to give in.

The Under-10s had an end-to-end clash at Oulton. Jonathan Diskin scored after good work by Ethan Skarkey, Callum Brooks and Jake Wilson.

Owen Beattie, Nathan Crawshaw and Ethan Thompson worked hard in defence while Josh Inwood won best defensive display and parents’ MoM.

Jacob White and Jay Scriven made good yards and a crossfield kick saw MoM Aaron O’Neil score out wide.

Most improved player Jayden Smith took a high kickand made good yards allowing Harry Thornton to break but he was denied by fine defence.From the play-the-ball Jacob White jinked over for a try which Thornton converted.
