Dewsbury were without eight players for last week’s trip to Whitehaven, while Stephen Nash and Callan Beckett also picked up knocks and are doubtful for this Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championship match against North Wales Crusaders at The Rock.

The Rams slipped to a 40-34 defeat in Cumbria, whichthrew open the race for a Championship play-off spot and battle against relegation.

Rams coach Morrison said: “We only had 18 fit players last week, so recalled Louis Sheriff and we have had to recall Farrell this week as we are down to the bare bones.”

Farrell impressed in pre-season, scoring a try in the 18-0 friendly victory over Castleford Tigers and also grabbed a hat-trick in the 76-10 Challenge Cup win over West Hull.

He was restricted to just one Championship appearance, in the 46-10 defeat at Sheffield Eagles before being loaned out to Gateshead.

Nash will miss the trip to Wales with concussion, Beckett will see a specialist to asses the extent of a knee injury, while hooker Ryan Wright has not trained this week after picking up a dead leg.

Morrison added: “Beckett will see a specialist but we are hoping it will not be a season ender, like has happened to a couple of other boys already.”

Morrison is aware there is still work to be done for the Rams to secure their Championship status before concentrating on a play-off assault.

The coach added: “We are still a few wins away before we can think we are safe and the sooner we get those, the better.

“It’s important we get wins and gain confidence so that we can go into the play-offs in the right frame of mind.”
