Celtic advanced up the right wing and George Hirst completing the move with a deserved try in the corner.
Newsome added a penalty and converted try late in the first half to lead 24-8.
Celtic began the second half well as Ethan O’Hanlonbarged over from close range and Charlie Heaton converted.

Newsome responded with two converted tries to lead 36-18 but Jack Kelly nipped over from acting half back before full-back Jacob Feiweles crossed.
Heaton added both goals to reduce the lead to six points.
Celtic tried desperately to break through and Jacob Carr barged over the line but was held up and bundled into touch in goal as the Panthers held on for victory.
Prop George Bussey’s earned praise from the Newsome coach, while Celtic counterpart Paul Heaton singled out Jacob Sheard, Liam Metcalf and MoM Ethan O’Hanlon.
Celtic Under-16s host Hunslet Warriors in the league on Sunday.
