Dewsbury set to bring curtain down on Don Valley
Dewsbury Rams are set to bring the curtain down on rugby league at Don Valley Stadium when they travel to take on Sheffield Eagles in Sunday’s play-off clash.
Sheffield’s surprise defeat to Halifax last week, coupled with Dewsbury’s terrific victory away to Doncaster, has set up the final game at Don Valley, which will be demolished shortly.
The Eagles this week made an urgent appeal to Sheffield Council to find them an alternative venue in the city for next season, with a potential return to the Owlerton Stadium greyhound track one option being considered.
Whatever the result on Sunday, Sheffield have stated Dewsbury’s visit will be the final rugby league game at the stadium.
