Dewsbury Rams prepare to host Wigan in Challenge Cup clash

Dewsbury Rams captain Wayne Godwin could return to face the might of Wigan Warriors in the Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth round tonight (8pm) Former Super League star Godwin missed last week’s victory over Workington Town with a slight injury but should be fit to feature against a full-strength Wigan side.

Tommy Gallagher is also desperate to play against the club where he is employed as a development officer.

Rams coach Glenn Morrison admits his side are under no pressure and can go out and enjoy playing against one of the best teams in world rugby, who are Challenge Cup holders and reigning Super League champions.

Morrison said: “We’ve got a good squad and I believe in all the players.

“We did well in the pre-season games against Bradford and Cas, who had Super League players against us.

“Although everyone knows the way the result is supposed to go, we will go out there and give it our best and make sure they know they’ve been in a game.

“The boys are excited about running out against one of the best sides in the world and I am looking forward to seeing how we go.

“Ewan Dowes has won the Challenge Cup but some of our younger players will have never been up against a side of Wigan’s calibrre and it will be up to our senior players to help them through.”

The Challenge Cup will displayed in The Royal Suite at Tetley’s Stadium from 6.45pm this evening but only supporters with tickets for the main stand will be able to gain access to this area of the ground.

The Rams had discussed with the RFL how spectators with tickets for the South Stand could view the famous trophy but there were no solutions which would comply with ground safety regulations.

Tickets are priced £15 adults seating, £9 concession and children seating, £13 adult standing, £7 Under-16s and concessions standing and are available from the office office at the Tetley’s Stadium today (Friday) until 4pm and then directly from the club shop from 6pm-7.30pm on a first come first served basis. Ticket prices are seating adults £15 concessions and children under 16 £9 and standing adults £13 and concessions and children under 16 £7.
