Dewsbury Rams head coach Lee Greenwood insists that he won’t use the club’s dual-registration agreement with Hull KR for the sake of it.

The Rams have partnered with the Super League outfit for 2020, with KR players able to play in the Rams first team when not selected by head coach Tony Smith while some Dewsbury players could get the chance to feature for the Robins reserve side.

Greenwood is entering his second season in charge at Dewsbury and has opted to work with a smaller squad this campaign.

The Rams boss felt, despite having a large number of players at his disposal, that his side weren’t in a strong position at the beginning of last season.

But he hopes that the club’s partnership with a Super League club will give Dewsbury an extra bit of quality when it is needed.

“We have partnered because we haven’t gone with a massive squad this year while Hull KR have,” said Greenwood.

“We feel it could be a good relationship. When we feel we need players and they have got them spare, then we can use them.

“And that is how I see it. A lot of it determines on our squad as well.

“If I don’t feel like I need anyone from Hull KR for any particular game then I won’t use it.”
