Confidence-boosting win required by Rams

The Rams won 31-18 in a midweek match at Workington earlier in the season and remain fourth in the table, ahead of Featherstone Rovers on points difference.

Dewsbury go into the game on the back of successive wins over Batley and Doncaster but, by their own admission, Glenn Morrison’s men have not been at their best in those games.

The Rams were given a huge scare by winless Doncaster last week before edging to a 14-6 victory but they must show improvement if they are to maintain their top four placing.

Morrison will demand a better display against Workington and speaking after last week’s win over Doncaster, the Rams coach said: “I don’t know if it was a hangover of playing three games in 10 days but although we are in the top four we need to turn up better than that.”

Matty Wildie was helped from the field after taking a heavy knock just 10 minutes into the Doncaster game and he was set to receive the relevant head tests to assess his availability for this week.

Nathan Conroy came on to make his Rams debut having joined on loan from Bradford Bulls and produced an impressive performance.

Morrison added: “Nathan did a great job for us and played a lot of minutes considering he had only been here a week to learn our plays.”

Following the Workington game, Dewsbury face a run of five matches which will have a huge bearing on their top four hopes.

They travel to Bradford on June 13, face games against Halifax and Leigh before the end of June, then travel to Featherstone and host London Broncos at the start of July.
