How Chris Hanson and Adam Walker launched the 2020protour.

The tour has already staged two events prior to the lockdown - caused by the coronavirus outbreak - at Crosland Heath and Huddersfield Golf Club.

The 2020protour was established to give women golfers equal footing in tournament golf against men, with the placement of the tees the only difference.

Hanson has received over 90 entries for the event at Cleckheaton and has praised the efforts of the Spen Valley club in helping get the event organised.

“Getting a golf course to agree to take us on and giving us enough tee time when there’s so much stress on getting members on is difficult,” Hanson told the Yorkshire Post.

“Cleckheaton have been fantastic, they see it as an opportunity to promote the course and they’re really behind it, they’re putting 18 volunteers on to rake the bunkers etc.

“They’ve been amazing. We are the first tour to get back going. We expected some criticism, someone to say it’s too soon, but surprisingly we’ve had absolutely nothing.”
