Buchanan has spent the last eight seasons with the Rams and his loyalty has been rewarded with a three-month testimonial.

The popular winger revealed: “I’m really proud to have this testimonial and I want to get back to being in the team, scoring tries, winning games and celebrating with the lads afterwards.”

It is hoped Salford will send over a strong squad, capable of providing Glenn Morrison’s men a stern test in the Rams second pre-season game.

Morrison has already vowed he will make changes to Dewsbury’s 21-man squad who were edged out 18-16 at Batley on Boxing Day.

Salford will name their squad today (Friday) but it is hoped the likes of Gareth Hock, Adrian Morley, Rangi Chase and former Leeds Rhinos Grand Final winner Ben Jones-Bishop will be included.

Buchanan added: “I am sure they will have a couple of young lads in, but it’s their first game so they will be itching to get on to the pitch.

“Hopefully they’ll send a few fans as well and we’ll get good numbers there.

“We had Wakefield and Castleford in mind, but it’s not just about making money, it’s about giving something back to the club and bringing some big names over.

“I love testing myself against the best in the game. It’s about everybody enjoying it and celebrating my time at Dewsbury.”

Admission to Sunday’s game has been set at £13 for adults, £10 concessions and £5 for under-16s.

Buchanan will also hold a question and answer session in the Royal Suite after the match, with all supporters welcome to attend.
