Brown smashes length of field drop-out

With the Rams under pressure, Fax forced a 65th minute drop-out only for Brown to launch the ball downfield, bouncing on the visitors 40 metre line before rolling dead.

Footage of the sensational kick was Tweeted about by @SkySportsRL, reaching over 41,500 people, and received over 330 re-tweets.

Speaking of Brown’s extraordinary play, Rams coach Glenn Morrison said: “It was one of those things that can turn a game but unfortunately we came up with an error on the back of it, which summed up our day.”

“I have seen it done before, as Prycey (Karl Pryce) once did it in an Under-20s game for Bradford.”

Another positive to come out of last Sunday’s defeat was the man-of-the-match performance by young half-back James Glover, on his league debut.

Glover featured in the Challenge Cup tie against Warrington Wolves earlier in the season but came off the bench to make his first Championship appearance for the Rams and was one of Dewsbury’s stand out players on a disappointing afternoon.

Morrison added: “Both our loan players, along with Glover, who was on debut, showed the most guts and determination and pride in the shirt out of everyone, which is great but also disappointing from the rest of my boys.

“It was an opportunity for him today, which he grasped, and he showed that he is ready to go.”

As Glover collected his MoM award, he announced that he agreed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until the end of 2016.

Morrison added: “There are a number of other quality players in our Reserves side who we hope to announce as signing new contracts in the months ahead. James is just the first.”

Glover said: “I was pleased to make my league debut and hope to continue my development in the months ahead. I’ve enjoyed myself with the Reserves and feel settled at the club under Glenn Morrison and Jonathan Schofield.”
