Ratcliffe lifts golf trophy

FIRST round leader Paul Ratcliffe (handicap 10) lifted the Hanging Heaton Golf Club’s Presidents Trophy after last Wednesday’s second round.

Radcliffe posted two rounds of 66 for a total of 132 The runner-up was Jonny Allott (5hcp) with 137 (69+68) and third was Chris Fletcher (11hcp) on 137 (67+70).

The first 18 holes of the Captain’s Prize was played, hosted by the captain Gary Sifleet.

Two of the top scores came from father and son duo Brian and Scott Minto. Son Scott (4hcp) had a round of 67 and also the best gross of 71. Brian (10 hcp) also posted 67 along with G Watson (17hcp). Other players qualifying for the second round were 68: G Colqhoun (12), C Vasey (16); 69: P Pitman (18), D Newton (15), D Ormsby (16); 70: S Robinson (15); 71: B Thompson (10); 72: K Wood (17), D Kilvington (10); 73: P Blackburn (17), S Horner (10), M Hodges (12), M Whitehead (11), G Stead (18).
