Rangers book semi-final spot

DEWSBURY Rangers beat Wyke Wanderers on penalties last Saturday to join three Morley teams in the Wheatley Cup semi-finals

Wakefield League Rangers had Lamin Bojang on target while Craig Sheridan replied for West Yorkshire League Wyke as the sides were tied 1-1 after extra-time

Rangers then won through to the last four after winning 4-1 in the penalty shoot-out.

Holders Gildersome Spurs eased through 4-1 at home against last season’s beaten finalists Thornhill.

Matthew Ibbotson and Jovan Kiosef both scored two goals while Marc Haley and Daniel Makin were also on target for Halfway House. Jermaine Davis, Shaun McDaid and Sean Housecroft replied for the home side.

A fourth different league is represented in the semi-finals after Tingley WMC’s fine 2-0 success at fellow West Riding County Amateur League side Heckmondwike Town thanks to strikes from Gavin Huxall and Richard Markham-Smith.
