Pudsey win WR Cup

PUDSEY Bowling Club became West Riding champions for the second time in three years, beating Crossgates by 13 points in the final.

Pudsey started brightly with Tom Hanson winning to 14 against Tony Green and fine wins for for Darren Crawley (21-12) and Ian Shaw (21-15) put Pudsey in control.

Crossgates replied with a 21-18 win from James Wilcox over Liam Griffin.

Crossgates edged back with superb displays from Pete Wilcox 21-12 and Terry Kelly 21-17 reducing the lead to just six points. Mark Hughes won his game to 15 and tied the overall scores.

Chris Hatton who held his nerve to edge home 21-15 and restore Pudsey’s lead before captain Jon Edmondson put in a MoM display, winning 21-5.

Pudsey’s Dave Hilliam beat Mark Taylor 21-16.

Jon Wilcox edged out Andy Hodgson 21-20 and Paul Cousins secured enough points for Pudsey to lift the trophy.
