Promotion-chasing Mills aim to build on victory

HOPTON Mills will be hoping the sun shines at Woodbottom tomorrow as they welcome Caribbean in an imortant Central Yorkshire League Division Two contest (start 1pm).

Mills got themselves back in the promotion hunt last week at Netherton, racking up an impressive 326-7 against the bottom side.

Opener Chris Scott led the way as he carried his bat for a terrific 113 as Hopton went on to complete a 134-run success which leaves them fourth in the table 11 points off leaders Scholes but just six behind second placed Wrenthorpe A.

Jack Hampshire Cup semi-finalists Moorlands are on a terrific run and last week’s superb win over previous leaders Liversedge has really shaken things up at the top of Division One.

Just three points separate new leaders Buttershaw St Pauls from fifth-placed Moorlands and the promotion race promises to be one of the closest run for years.

Moorlands travel to bottom club East Leeds tomorrow, knowing victory would pile further pressure on the sides above them.

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers are safe in mid-table in the Premier Division as they travel to ninth-placed Wakefield St Michaels.

Hanging Heaton will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing weekend when they travel to Bradford League Division One leaders Woodlands tomorrow (1.30pm).
