Park reach Wilf Ward final — Oakwell close in on title

A tight contest saw a goalless first half before Michael Chadwick gave Park the lead with a 55th minute penalty.

Carl Austin added a brace to complete the 3-0 win.

Park will now meet Fairbank in the final next Friday (April 29, 7pm) at Liversedge FC, after they beat West Bradford Spartans 5-2 on Monday.

Oakwell took a huge step to winning the Spen Valley League Premier Division title last Saturday with a 4-2 win at Youth 2000.

TVR United are the only side who can catch Oakwell as they are eight points adrift with three matches left. Oakwell can clinch the title on Saturday if they beat Bradford.

Although Waqas and Ashiq netted for Youth, Oakwell secured an 11th win of the season thanks to goals from Gary Foley, James Wightman, Judd Ledgard and Johnny Beverley.

Quarry ended their season with a 3-1 win at Bradford, but it wasn’t enough to lift them out of the bottom two.

Matthew Parkinson (two) and David Goodled scored for Quarry, who led 2-0 at half-time. Steven Royston bagged Bradford’s consolation goal.

TVR United’s title hopes suffered a setback last Wednesday as they drew 1-1 with Bradford, with Ashiq Iqbal scoring their equaliser.

However, TVR bounced back on Saturday with a 4-1 win at bottom side George Healey.

Iqbal was again in fine form, scoring a hat-trick, while Sarfraz Aslam was also on target. Andy Howard replied for George who will finish bottom of the table.

K Chibda and M Adam were among Youth’s scorers as they beat Quarry 4-1 last Wednesday.

Fairbank United remain a point behind Division One leaders Wellington following last Saturday’s matches.

Fairbank boosted their goal difference with a 9-0 victory over Stithy. Mazher Iqbal scored his first hat-trick in 14 years, while Hassan Ellam (two), Naveed Hussain, Tufail Ahmed, Faisal Shabbir and Akif Waseem also struck.

However, the Spartans maintained their slender lead thanks to a 3-2 win over Oakwell Reserves.

West Bradford produced a storming second half display to defeat ALC 5-1 last Wednesday after the sides went into half-time level at 1-1. Two goals each from Ross Barraclough and Rob Rowntree and one from Adam Wigglesworth secured their win.

Second half goals from T Arshad and L Adam saw BD3 United to a 2-0 victory over Inter Batley and they lie third in the table with games in hand on the top-two.

Norfolk beat second-bottom Howden Clough 6-2 last Wednesday. I Farooq netted a hat-trick, while Ismail Lunat, M Badat and an own goal made up Norfolk’s tally as they moved up to eighth.
