“They are leaving it as long as they can and they are absolutely doing the right thing by leaving it as long as possible,” said Greenwood, who signed a renewed two-year deal with Dewsbury last week.

Greenwood insists the second-tier can’t resume behind closed doors and continued: “They can’t make a decision to say we will return on a certain date because we need crowds at our level.

“There is no sign of anyone saying that gatherings in professional sport will be allowed yet.

“So they can’t really say yes right now but you don’t want them to say they are cancelling the season and then suddenly say we are allowed crowds.

“They are absolutely doing the right thing. They are making the final call on it next week, which is about right.

“It is not their fault, we are governed by the virus and what the Government allow us to do.”
