The Bulldogs kicked off the round two action as they breezed past Oldham with a convincing 48-10 victory.

Later in the day, the Rams made it two wins from two at the start of the league season with a hard-fought 22-14 triumph over Widnes Vikings.

Against Oldham, Batley took the lead when Josh Tonks forced his way over for the hosts from close range.

The Roughyeds responded well when Lewis Charnock dotted down but tries from Jodie Broughton, Luke Hooley, Jack Logan and Ben White meant Batley went into the break with a commanding 28-6 advantage.

Batley continued with the relentless pressure in the second half as Johnny Campbell crossed twice while Elliot Hall continued his fine start as a Batley player with a try of his own before White doubled his account for the afternoon.

Tommy Brierley added a consolation for Matt Diskin's side in the final quarter but Craig Lingard's men had done more than enough to secure the points.

In Widnes, Andy Gabriel scored twice for Dewsbury as they claimed victory over the Vikings.

Paul Sykes opened the scoring after four minutes with a penalty goal and on 15 minutes he converted Joe Martin's try to give the visitors an 8-0 lead.

Matty Smith hit back for the home side but Will Oakes scored in the corner for Dewsbury to restore their eight-point advantage.

Lloyd Roby cut the gap to four points with a try on the stroke of half time but Gabriel claimed his first try two minutes into the second half to extend the visitors' lead.

With 50 minutes on the clock, Gabriel latched onto a kick from Sykes to plant down out wide as the Rams defended their 14-point lead until Steve Tyrer added a try with three minutes to play.

Dewsbury saw out the remainder of the game to make it two Championship wins from two to start the season.
