WITH Dewsbury Rams facing a blank weekend following their Championship opener against Whitehaven, head coach Lee Greenwood feels like the season has yet to get going.

Dewsbury returned to action last month with a Challenge Cup defeat at Whitehaven before waiting two weeks to take on the same opponents in the league.

They now have to wait another two weeks for their next game, which is an away trip to Widnes Vikings on Saturday, April 17.

The Rams defeated Whitehaven last weekend to get their Championship season off to a winning start.

The games will start to come thick and fast in the coming weeks and months and Greenwood is looking forward to playing on a weekly basis again.

“The week off gives you double the amount of sessions than you would normally have to prepare for a game, in that respect it is helpful,” said Greenwood.

“After that, it goes week on week. We haven’t had that for 13 months by the time it comes. It feels like it has still not properly started, even though the league has kicked off.

“With us having a Cup game and a week off, and then a league game and a week off, it doesn’t feel like it has quite got going yet.

“So we will use this weekend off to our advantage as best we can, to make sure everyone is fresh for another tough game, which they all are.”
