Dewsbury Rams eager for return to action against Widnes Vikings

EVERY DEWSBURY Rams player put their hand up to feature in last weekend’s postponed Challenge Cup fixture at Whitehaven, according to head coach Lee Greenwood.

The Rams fourth-round tie in Cumbria was called off due to an unplayable pitch but Greenwood was pleased to see how all of his players were willing to make the long trek after playing on the previous Tuesday.

Dewsbury had beaten Halifax five days before the cup fixture was due to take place and Greenwood feels that has given his squad a lift.

“We were going to rotate a bit on Sunday, with having had the Halifax game on the Tuesday before and I wanted to have a look at some people,” he said.

“But every single player in the squad wanted to play, which is good.

“Sometimes when you draw a team that is a bit of a trek away, some players are happy to be rotated.

“But everyone wanted to play in that which might be down to confidence and wanting to get a winning run together.”

The Rams have managed to play just two of their four games this year due to poor weather conditions with three games being called off and just one successfully rescheduled.

Greenwood added: “It almost feels like we haven’t got going yet. It feels like we are almost in pre-season a little bit."
