Ossett beat Birstall to move level at top

Rohan Randhawa continued his fine form for Ossett with a half century, while Javed Umarji (39), Thomas Chippendale (39no) and John Sadler (33) all chipped in with useful contributions as Ossett reached 233-8 from their 50 overs.

Rob McFarlane top scored in Birstall’s reply, making 35 from 24 balls but the visitors were bowled out for 110 as Gurman Randhawa claimed 4-18.

Ossett are level on 28 points with champions Methley, who claimed four points after successfully chasing down Wrenthorpe’s total of 212-6.

Jordan Sleightholme (82) and Chris Leaf (51no) were the leading Wrenthorpe scorers but Methley eased to their target with 4.1 overs to spare as Luke Patel made an unbeaten 86.

Batley slipped to a 57-run defeat at the hands of Townville, who are four points behind the leading duo.

Jonathan Booth hit seven fours and two sixes on his way to 66, while Jack Hughes made 62 not out including five fours and two sixes as Townville reached 218-4.

Captain Tariq Hussain promoted himself to open the batting and he top scored in Batley’s reply with 55 from 86 balls.

Sufyan Patel supported with 32 but Batley were dismissed for 161 as Hughes capped a fine all-round display with 6-44.

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers earned their first win of the season to move out of the bottom two.

They overcame Hunslet Nelson by 126 runs as their opponents slipped to the foot of the table.

Parish were in trouble at 58-4 before Nazar Hussain rescued their innings with a splendid century.

Hussain’s ton came off 135 balls and contained 10 fours and six sixes as Parish closed on 233-7, of which Will Stiff claimed 3-70.

Nelson were dismissed for just 106 in 28 overs of their reply as Parish clinched an emphatic win.

Buttershaw are level on five points with Nelson at the bottom after they suffered an eight wicket defeat to Wakefield Thornes.

Matthew Varley claimed 4-24 as Buttershaw were dismissed for 106 and Thornes required just 12.5 overs to cruise to their target.

Carlton moved up to fifth place as they made 233-6 against Altofts, who were restricted to 199-9 in reply.

Hopton Mills are two points clear of Azaad at the top of the Championship.

Hopton recorded a third win of the season, beating East Ardsley by 47 runs.

Michael Carroll (38) and Stephen Blank (35) were the leading Hopton scorers as they were bowled out for 193, with Ashley Battye picking up 4-37.

Simon Davies led East Ardsley’s reply with a top score of 40 but they were dismissed for 146 as Brad Drake claimed 3-44.

Liversedge moved into fourth spot and within five points of the leaders thanks to a 98-run victory over Caribbean.

Although Will Atkin (37) and Sukrit Raman (31,) made useful contributions, Liversedge were bowled out for 160 as Harold Campbell claimed 3-52.

However, Caribbean were then shot out for just 62 in 24.1 overs as Zach Wood claimed 4-6 and Graeme Winn returned 4-19 from nine overs, while Simon (Kay (2-17) was also among the wickets.

Azaad are second, two points behind Liversedge after a 32-run four-point win over Northowram Fields, while Oulton are third after dismissing Wakefield St Michaels for 11 in reply to their 210-8.

Great Preston closed to within two points of Division One leaders East Leeds following a 147-run victory over Mirfield.

James Maston hit 10 fours on his way to 100, while Lee Russell (47) supported as Great Preston made 246-9, of which Daniel Gough claimed 3-24.

Ali Husnain (27) top scored in reply but Mirfield were dismissed for 99 as Andrew Clark (6-18) and Russell (3-52) did the damage.

Crossbank Methodists suffered a six-wicket defeat to Adwalton,

Captain Richard Hosley top scored with 83 and Alan Firth hit 35 to help Crossbank post 163 all out, with Gareth Kitchen claiming 4-43.

Andy Langley (44) and Matthew Donohoe (37) steered Adwalton to a six wicket win.
