Olympic hopefuls on show at gym event

ONE of the biggest gymnastic competitions in the North of England will be staged at Dewsbury Sports Centre next weekend as the City of Leeds club hosts Leeds Gym Fest.

The event, on January 29 and 30, is set to attract more than 2,000 competitors and spectators from all over the country.

It will be a great chance for local people to see top gymnasts in action, some of whom are potential Great Britan stars for next year’s Olympics in London.

The Saturday competitions will be for acrobatic gymnastics and tumbling. Sunday’s Gymnastics Festival will be for teams of 20 or more gymnasts in a routine lasting up to eight minutes, or a small display of between five and 20 gymnasts working for up to three minutes.
