Nostalgia: Party held for retiring Birkenshaw cook

The cook in charge of Birkenshaw First School retired after working at the school since 1971 – but got a nice surprise on her last day.

A party was held for Kathleen Brooke by members of staff, and she was presented with gifts from children including a basket of flowers and a card made and signed by the children.
