Nostalgia: Birstall parade proves the power of three

A three-legged fancy dress parade in Birstall raised more than £300 for partially sighted people.

The fundraising parade was all part of the efforts by the regulars of the Showboat pub on Bradford Road to raise funds for the Highfield Home for the Blind.

Resident disc jockey Glyn Hellowell presented the money to Coun Malcolm McKennan, a member of the management committee at home. They are pictured with landlord Mick Smith and other regulars.
